Join us for our Annual Spring Lecture featuring Jeff Pippen!

Jeff Pippen is an avid butterflier, birder, naturalist, and photographer. His natural history website (www.jeffpippen.com) features over 12,000 photos of plants and animals, including extensive butterfly galleries from his travels across North America as well as to Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Greece, Indonesia, New Zealand, Peru, and Uganda. In 2024, he co-authored Butterflies of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia: A Field Guide, published by UNC Press. His butterfly photography has even made it to prime-time television, appearing in a 2011 episode of CSI: Miami.

The meeting will start with a brief business meeting where members will vote for candidates to fill open positions on the board. This event is free and open to the public.

The Butterfly Society of Virginia is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our main purpose is to raise the general consciousness of our members and the public regarding the survival problems of butterflies and moths through publicity, programs and activities for both adults and children. We also promote butterfly and moth conservation, including conservation of butterfly habitats.
