After almost 7 years, a popular speaker is returning! Sam Jaffe, of The Caterpillar Lab in New Hampshire, will be starting his Meet and Greet one hour early at 1 PM, so join us then!

Imagine a meadow in full flower, alive with pollinators and butterflies, or a crowded moth sheet under an ultraviolet light, holding hundreds or thousands of nocturnal insects. As initially impressive as these scenes are, they represent just the tip of a much larger iceberg – the deep stories and full life histories of creatures that drive the ecological world.
Uncover the hidden stories of these creatures with Sam Jaffe of The Caterpillar Lab and share in some exciting and strange new finds from his work and travels, including numerous never-before-photographed caterpillars and undescribed species from across the eastern United States. The Butterfly Society of Virginia is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our main purpose is to raise the general consciousness of our members and the public regarding the survival problems of butterflies and moths through publicity, programs and activities for both adults and children. We also promote butterfly and moth conservation, including conservation of butterfly habitats.
